Biography
for Katie Adams
Katie Adams is a nationally recognized, professional puppeteer and storyteller
from Tampa, Florida, who loves to perform for children and family audiences.
After receiving a BFA in sculpture, with a minor in theater from Alfred
University, Katie worked for Creative Arts Theater, a division of the
Tampa Recreation Department, and was involved in the creation and performance
of many puppet shows.
In, 1999, Katie created her own company, Make-Believe Theater dedicated
to entertaining, inspiring and enlightening young audiences. She does
all the creative work for her original shows, including writing, designing,
construction, and composing.
Katie tours with
the Artist-in-the-Schools program through the Arts Council of Hillsborough
County, and does character education puppet shows for Learning For Life.
Performance highlights include:
the Eugene O’Neill Puppetry Conference, 2000,
the National Festival of the Puppeteers of America, 2001,
the Smithsonian Discovery Theater, 2002,
the Great Arizona Puppet Theater, 2002,
and the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, 2003

performances that advance the arts of puppetry and storytelling.
To awaken in young audiences these essentials:
The imagination for creative problem-solving and self expression,
The capacity to visualize imagery as part of reading and language arts,
The ability to navigate through life with empathy and good decisions.
